Who we are?
I’m Eric, my Chinese name is Su Yinwen, and my Tibetan name is Chenlinangjie. I was born in Hong Kong in 2012, and my younger brother, Gavin, was born in the United States in 2017. Our father and grandfather are both Tibetans from Qinghai. I came to the United States to study and live when I was five years old. In fact, like most American children, we communicate and think in English and eat all kinds of Western food. But there’s always a voice in my ear telling me that the blood of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau flows in my veins, and that I have a mission to carry on our ethnic traditions.
Voice of the Plateau
Growing up between two cultures isn’t always easy. Sometimes we don’t know how to explain our background or how to connect our daily lives with our cultural heritage.
The “Voice of the Plateau” project was initially created to help us better understand ourselves and share our voices with others. This project is not about preserving past culture, but about revitalizing our culture in the present.
